Every fault below comes from real call-outs across Durban and surrounding areas. Some have a quick check you can try yourself before booking anyone — where that's true, we say so. When a visit is needed, the diagnosis is done with a signal meter, quoted before work starts, and covered by our 12-month workmanship warranty. New to this part? Start with the signal distribution & amplifiers component guide.
1. Weak signal across several TVsE30 (intermittent)
What you'll see: Every TV in a larger property shows some pixelation, worse on the outlets furthest from the head-end and worse on certain channels than others.
Why it happens: Distribution loss. Each split and each metre of cable costs signal, and a system that has grown by improvisation eventually has no margin left at its worst outlet.
How we fix it: We measure at the worst outlet, calculate the actual loss through the system, and correct it properly — right-sized amplification, heavier cable where runs demand it, or a redesigned head-end where the system has simply outgrown itself.
2. A whole group of channels disappeared
What you'll see: One coherent block of channels has vanished from every TV in the property while everything else continues to work normally.
Why it happens: A failed DiSEqC switch. Where a system receives more than one satellite, that switch selects between them — and when it fails you lose exactly the channels carried on the satellite you can no longer reach.
How we fix it: We test the switch and its control signalling, then replace it and re-run the channel scan. The symptom is so specific that diagnosis is usually quick.

3. Amplifier turned up too high
What you'll see: Pixelation across all outlets that got worse rather than better after an amplifier was fitted or adjusted upward.
Why it happens: Amplifier overdrive. Too much gain saturates the decoder tuners, producing break-up that looks exactly like insufficient signal — which tempts the next person to turn it up again.
How we fix it: We measure the actual signal level at the outlets and set gain to match the system's real loss, or remove an amplifier that was never needed in the first place.
Symptom doesn't match any of these?
Faults overlap — a "signal distribution & amplifiers problem" is sometimes another link in the chain wearing a disguise.
