What you'll notice
An E30 message reporting that no signal is reaching the decoder from the dish. Usually every channel is affected.
Why it happens
A physical break in the chain between dish and decoder: disconnected or damaged cable, failed LNB, dish out of alignment, or a failed multiswitch on a multi-room system.
E30 is the honest error: the decoder is telling you plainly that nothing is arriving from the dish. Everything from the wall plate outward is suspect.
The two-minute check anyone can do
Look at the cable where it screws into the back of the decoder. Is it finger-tight? Has furniture been moved, or a TV cabinet pulled out, since it last worked? A surprising number of E30 callouts end at a connector that was knocked loose during cleaning or a rearranged lounge, and it costs nothing to rule out.
One TV or all of them?
This single question narrows the fault enormously. If one decoder shows E30 and others are fine, the fault is in that room's cable, wall plate or connector — a small job. If every decoder is out at once, the fault is at the shared head-end: the LNB, the multiswitch or its power supply, or the dish itself. Tell us which when you call and we arrive with the right parts.
Why we start at the decoder end
Because it is the cheapest place to be wrong. Measuring at the wall plate tells us immediately whether the problem is inside the house or up on the roof, and it takes two minutes. Starting on the roof means an hour of ladder work before discovering the real fault was a corroded wall plate in the lounge.
How we fix it
We work the chain from the decoder outward with a meter — cable at the wall plate, connectors, multiswitch, LNB, then alignment — and repair the actual break rather than replacing components speculatively.
